When the Storms Come, Your Foundation Determines Whether You Stand or Fall
The month of August offers a fresh opportunity to leave past failures behind and build our lives on a solid foundation that can withstand life's inevitable storms.
• Matthew 7:24-25 teaches us to build our house on the rock through both hearing and doing God's word
• True wisdom requires not just knowledge but implementation of what we hear
• God often speaks to us through unexpected people – be humble enough to recognize and receive it
• When you know who you are in God, you can walk into any room with confidence knowing you belong there
• Standing on God's promises gives you stability even when circumstances are challenging
• Commanding your day to yield the fruits God has promised changes your perspective
• Don't get caught up in temporary spiritual "sugar highs" from conferences without lasting change
• If you're feeling alone, remember you have a community of prayer partners standing with you
If you need someone to stand with you in prayer, join us every Thursday at 7am. Please like and share this video to help spread encouragement to others who might need it.

Speaker 2:All right, good morning y'all. It's Thursday, it's August, it's August 7th and I'm so grateful for this day. I'm just turning on, I call it. It's soaking music, so I try to have something. Actually, let me do something different, y'all. Let me just change things up a little bit, if you don't mind. Again, I'm excited about the month of August, but I'm always excited about new months because it gives us an opportunity to start over. I love a refresh and a start over and I'm not ashamed to admit it. And again, the month of August, we typically look at this as a month of new blessings. Good morning, dr Tracy. Good morning Facebook family.
Speaker 2:Everybody who watches the replay, replay, whether you're also the folks who listen on the audio. Thank you all for watching and supporting and please don't forget to like and share. And again, I always forget this part, but it's important to help us get the word out and keep us relevant on the youtube streets, so please don't forget to do that. But um, what I wanted to say was you know, what I love about starting new months is we have an opportunity to kind of shed the skin, leave the failures behind and be in the month we just come out of, and then it gives us an opportunity to reset, reframe our thinking and start over. Some of us are starting over and I say I know I say this enough, uh, so that y'all are probably like I know, we know, but I always tell you to leave the baggage behind. Whatever didn't serve you in the previous month, don't bring it to the new month, right? Uh? So, even saying that, as we're moving into this new month, this first first week, we're just going to talk really quickly about needing something to stand on, and you know, in the word we talk about having a firm foundation, and I just want to also share just again some things that's happened to you, girl, on this side, in real life, because we're doing life together, and maybe some of the experiences I'm having look a little bit like what you're having and I'm praying that both of us will be encouraged by it. Right, and so needing something to stand on.
Speaker 2:So I'm going to share my screen because I have a scripture. It's a little bit long for me to drop it in the chat y'all. So if you bear with me, I'm going to go ahead and just share my screen and it's going to come out of Matthew 7, verses 24 and 25. Obviously, the HLE ESV version and this little caption you're seeing here build your house on the rock. It's in the Bible, I mean, it's in the version in ESV, not in the scripture. Ok, so here we go.
Speaker 2:Everyone, then, who hears these words of mine and does them. So let me just pause for a minute. Thank you, holy Spirit, for bringing us your word and giving us your wisdom. Thank you, lord, for showing us this new month, allowing us to wake up in it, and no matter what our situations are, whether we're having any sense of loss or lack, that, you'll give us the tools, the resources and the wisdom so that we can see the answers that you are providing to us in the form of people, in the form of idea, in the form of inspiration and encouragement. Lord, and I ask, now that you bless us, to hear your word clearly, speak to each of us individually, so we can hear exactly what you've got for us, lord, and that we can go on about our business. Thank you for divine help you've already sent us, and we just bless your name. You're such a good father. Amen, I can't start without that, y'all.
Speaker 2:So the scripture says everyone, then, who hears these words of mine and does them, will be like a wise man who built his house on a rock. So there's two things here that I want to, actually three things here that I want to show you just in verse 24, and we're going to apply it to our lives. We're going to make it relatable, right, so we can use scripture to help us live our lives out, all right? So the first thing is everyone, then, who hears these words of mine? Okay, the thing is, when we're asking the Lord, we're asking him for wisdom, but we're asking him to open up our ears so we can hear what he has to say about certain situation and I know, you know, a lot of times that's really hard, because if you're, if you're, an overthinker, you start to craft these narratives in your head and the Lord, god, has nothing to do with it. I'm always fascinated when we're especially on social media, because it's such a thing, y'all, where people will pop on and they'll drop something, and the Lord told me to tell y'all, and really it was him telling you, not us. Tell y'all, and really it was him telling you, not us.
Speaker 2:Okay, so we have to be wise to hearing his words, but we also have to be wise enough to know what he's saying to us individually. And then it says and does them. You know and does them. So when he's showing you, um, this month, as he's speaking to us, we're in a position where we're humble enough to listen, because it's not always the Lord's telling you you're going to win a lottery. And if you listen, I'm going to say if you go to a conference, you're going to come back and everything's going to change. You have actions that you have to do. It says and does them. So you have to hear his word, hear the words, and then again does them and it says then, right, it's a hearer and a doer. Then you'll be like a wise man who built his house on this rock.
Speaker 2:So so, as we're thinking about the month of August and everything that we do, y'all want to put ourselves in the position where we're yes, we're asking the Lord to speak to us. He's speaking to us. Sometimes he sends it in the form of correction from somebody you don't like, but he is speaking to us, right, and then we take action and he says and then then we'll be like a wise man who built this out on a rock, on something strong, on foundation, not just, but, you know, not just building the foundation on. You know, again, most, most Christians will read and hear the word about the foundation and the Lord being the rock and all of it, and we only apply that to well, the foundation is the blood of Jesus and we leave it there. But we also have to do some things right Now.
Speaker 2:What I love about verse 25, this conditional statement it's like it's, it's it's basically in in my interpretation for for our application purposes today, I got to do all the disclaimers right, but the but the way we're going to use it today in our situation is for those who hears these words and those who does these, you know, does the words, follows through on the action, right, the actions that align with what the Lord is showing you again, and and those people who are building their house on a rock, those who are obedient to what the lord is telling you. Then it says and the rain fell and floods came and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall. Why? Because it was founded on a rock, there was a solid foundation. So when situations come, when death, when debt comes, when plans fall through, when you lose your job, you feel like you're losing your mind, when you feel like you're being over take, overtaking. When circumstances come, you know, all these things happen. You're not gonna fall apart because you're solid. On that rock, I feel like I just poured a song, right, you, you were, you were solid, you were, you were, you had a solid foundation and um. So now I'm gonna share something with you.
Speaker 2:Let me just come out of the word real quick and I want to share some. Just a really quick, practical example of um having this solid foundation and having a mind, a mindset where you're willing to listen. Right, because a lot of us, it's easier for us to listen and hear from those. Maybe someone who looks like you, maybe someone who dressed like you, maybe someone who grew up like you. It's easier for you to listen to someone who kind of mirrors your thinking. But what happens if you only listen, if you only listen?
Speaker 2:So, for example, yesterday I had these amazing conversations and before I went into the office and I'm telling my business before I went into the office, I said my you know, said my prayer, prayer made my declaration of the day. Okay, and something that I was asking the lord is that show me where I need to adjust. Right, you know, I'm, I am coachable, okay, so show me where I need to adjust my thinking. And so, um, I had not only like a couple of meetings, but I had the opportunity to be, to be in the company of women, and it was. It was one of those situations where we just, it just happened Right, I was, I had allowed myself to be, um, uh, vulnerable enough and available right, so that I could be in the company of these women and we just were talking and sharing things that weren't our was, were, uh, was on our heart. We talked about family, we talked about business, we talked about life, and it was really, it was so good.
Speaker 2:But in the middle of that conversation, I knew when the Lord started to speak to me through someone who might not have known that he was doing, but I'm wise enough to know when he's speaking to me and he's speaking through someone because it was confirmation after confirmation after confirmation on something that he was showing me. Okay, and so then what happened is after I took that counsel and I went back. Thank you, lord, for showing me I was. I was, uh, again, humble enough to hear open my ears, and then it was a do so I heard, and then there was an action that I had to do. I had to follow up with that person. Okay, I had to come out of my shell and my comfort zone and follow up with that person to say, hey, can you give me, can I get 15 minutes on your calendar? What was happening now is I recognize that the Holy spirit was using this individual. Again, the Lord will use anybody he chooses. Okay, stop looking, for you know, the Lord is only going to use a person with a possible title. That's not the case. Okay, god uses who God uses. Okay, so I'd realized that, that he was speaking to me, that he was um, that he was shifting and shaping me, he was course correcting me through someone else and I had to do something. And I thank God for the favor because it worked out that the things are going to happen. I'll get to meet the person, et cetera.
Speaker 2:Now I'm sharing all this to say this very simply that it's not just when we say we need something to stand on. I'm standing on the very basic principles that the Lord has already given all of us. He's already told you who you are. He's already told you that favor surrounds you as a shield. He's already told you you have divine protection. What more do you need? Now? You have to go out and do so.
Speaker 2:I stand on what God says about me every day. I stand on what the word says about me, and so, because I am grounded, because I hold on to that foundation, then there is nothing that anyone can tell me that can counteract that. For example, if I come on here and tell y'all I'm going to be an astronaut, crazy as it sounds, I'm believing. If I say I'm going to do something, I'm going to be an astronaut, crazy as it sounds, I'm believing. If I say I'm going to do something, I'm going to do it. I don't have any. I don't. I'm not an imposter.
Speaker 2:I keep saying that you can't be a believer and be and then claim these things of the world. We're not fake, we're not imposters, and I don't have to fake it till I make it, because I know who created me, I understand what he's done for me, I know what he's delivered me from, I understand favor and grace. So so because of that, y'all, we can walk into any room. We can. We can right. We are in positions where God has placed you right. He's put you there, and so you show up with a different level of courage. Right, we don't claim things that are counter to what the Lord says.
Speaker 2:That's why the verse it says it didn't fall when rain came, when doubt came, when distress came, when all the things came, winds blew, beat down your house. All the things are happening. You won't fall apart because you've been founded on that rock, right, you're solid on that rock. You're not pulled apart just because something goes wrong. Oh, lord, the devil's chasing me. Let me tell you something we are blessed children of god.
Speaker 2:Go back to deuteronomy, and, and, and even bring back to your own memory the blessings that you have come under. Okay, the same blessings in deuteronomy applies to us. So, every now and then, go back and say, okay, wait a minute, if I am a child of the king, if I'm a, if I'm a child of the creator of all creation, right, because we don't worship creation, right, the creator of all and everything. Then what do I have to be afraid of? When you start to really remember, y'all, who you are in the spirit, when the Holy Spirit starts to show you like hold on a second, you've been marked and set apart, okay, then then you start to understand the courage that the disciples had, right, you know when, then you start to understand why they could walk in such courage? Because they knew who they were. We're not perfect, but we knew they knew. The same way disciples knew knew who they were.
Speaker 2:I love David, I love the heart of David. David knew who he was. It didn't mean that he didn't make mistakes, it didn't mean that rain, rains didn't fall, winds didn't blow, things didn't go, things didn't happen, but he was standing on that relationship with God and he knew who he was. I know how God sees me. Do you know how God sees you? Or you're waiting for somebody to tell you? I can stand on what the word says about my life, and so every day, I started to do this thing now, where I start to, to, to command, after I prayed, you know, for the day, and I thank God for all the blessings and all the things and wisdom. Lord, I want your mindset, I want to see things from your perspective. Then I start to command the day to yield the fruits for me, right Yield, the debt yield, and so so I want to encourage you don't stand on just what people say. You can't even again. I love a women's empowerment conference, but it always troubles me For those of y'all go to the conference.
Speaker 2:You spend your hard coin, you go and you're blessed and two days later you're back in a trench. You're back in a psychological warfare you created on your own and then you call that spiritual warfare. No, a lot of times it's just disobedience. You've been, you've been, you've gone in on a sugar high. When the sugar's over, you start to blame God or you start blaming the devil.
Speaker 2:Come on, y'all, you got to know who you are and whose you are, and that's what you stand on. So if you know that the Lord has blessed you he's given you these awesome talents, Whenever the rains fall and the winds blow, it means it doesn't mean that he's taken that away from you. It means that you need to adjust your thinking right. You have to adjust your thinking so different opportunities can show up to you in a different way and it's not always going to come to you in this in the way that you've been used to. If I was disobedient yesterday, I would have missed about five hours worth of blessings. Okay, if I was just, you know, I'm saying like if I, if I was going with a quote religious spirit. I wouldn't hear what anyone else to say because they're not. They're not sounding the way I think they should Come on y'all.
Speaker 2:So again, I told y'all I'm really excited about this month of August for all of us, all of us. I really want us to do better this month than we did last month, and to do better and better each month. We only have a handful of months for the rest of the year, and so you've got to be able to adjust your thinking differently this month. All right, and again, I love y'all. I really honestly, when I say I want all of us to be successful, I mean that spiritually, financially, mentally, health wise. I want success in every area of your life. I want you to be able to be reminded when you're in the dark places, before you get to depression, before doubt takes over. I want you to be reminded of this power that you have through the Holy Spirit in your belly.
Speaker 2:I want you to walk into rooms and not be worried about whether you fit there. You belong there. Jesus sent you there, then you belong there, that's all to it. If he puts you in the job you're in, it's your job. Now it's up to you to do the thing right, the best of your ability. You don't have to question what people think. People are always going to talk about you, trust me, right, but you don't have to worry about what people are saying.
Speaker 2:If you're focused on the assignment right, if you're doing things in the best of your ability and making your father proud, if you honor the people that he put in your life, whether they like you or not, okay, because the Lord will take care of everything. Right. And remember that favor actually does surround you. It does. It is a protection when you have the level of favor. I'm talking about that. Even when we make mistakes, y'all, even when I make mistakes, the Lord will course correct. He will do it in a way, I'll learn the lesson right, but he'll course correct me in a way that I won't suffer. I don't have any suffering. There is no suffering whatsoever that happens to me as a believer. As his daughter, I always say, as his favorite, that it's done. You know why? Because I am always yielding and submitting to him right, and that's something that I can stand on and I encourage you to stand on that.
Speaker 2:So, as you go back into your prayer closets this week, or you pray in your car, or maybe you're just praying, you know, just standing around the house, wherever it is, even at the, even at the bus station. You know, you. You say a word of prayer. Ask the Lord to reveal to you what, what areas he wants you to focus on this month. Don't worry about what other people are saying. This is not the season to be caught up in gossip. This is not the season to be distracted. Right, and then, as he starts to show you, you start to command your days to now. Yield to me all the promises that God has for me. Stay focused on what you're doing.
Speaker 2:We're still in the year of discipline, y'all, and I told you, when we get to December, we should be celebrating, regardless of all the things that's happening around us. We should still be celebrating because God has been faithful, god has been good, god has been merciful, god has been kind, right, he's been a loving father, he's provided for all of us, even at our lowest low. He's pulled us out of the very depths of that right and, if nothing else, he's giving you a community to pray alongside you, right, three praying sisters, y'all. Come on, he's giving you. You know, if you've asked Lord, send me, send me help. He's sent you help. Have you taken the help? Have you done anything with the help? Right? So I pray that, bless you, I pray that, bless you, I pray that, I pray, I really do and I hope that, as you're hearing, go back and hear what I'm saying. Go back to Matthew seven, verses 24 to 25, and see how that, see how you can weave that into your day for the rest of the week.
Speaker 2:If you need something to stand on, the Holy Spirit is available, okay, but so are we. We. That's why we're here, right, that's why we're here as a community of prayer partners. As I say it, if you need someone to stand with you, that's why I'm here, I'm not. I said, if you need someone to stand with you, that's why I'm here, I'm not. Listen, I know I come on rando times. I've been doing this for years now Okay, but if you need someone to stand with you and we don't even know each other, just know on the other side of the screen, just pretend we're besties and I know you and you know me, and I'm standing with you If you have no one else.
Speaker 2:There's a lot of men who have lost jobs and they feel so absolutely alone right now because they are the breadwinners in their family. Let me just tell you, if you need someone to stand on, I'm going to urge you find a friend group. Don't allow yourself to fall into depression. You're not alone. But at the very worst case, if you can't even find a friend group, there's somebody here every Thursday at 7am, on all these broadcasts, speaking to you and hoping to lift your spirits. Okay, so I'm rooting for you, I'm pulling for you. We've got this, y'all. We've got this if we help each other out. So that's all I have for today, thursday.
Speaker 2:I know I rambled a little bit, but I had to talk to the brothers, because I know brothers watch this too, and I hope that this helps you. Thank you, Lord, for this day. I thank you that your words will yield fruit in someone's life, lord, god, that they'll pull from it what they need and that you, holy Spirit, you'll speak to them through confirmation and lift their spirits today. Thank you for giving us the spirit of joy today. I'm excited. Amen, go out and have an awesome Thursday. Don't forget to do me a solid like and share the video y'all, especially on Facebook. What are y'all doing? Share the video. All right, I love y'all. Jesus loves you more and I'll talk to you next week.
