Changing Your Environment: The Trust Factor
Changing our environment requires trust in God's direction and the courage to leave comfort zones behind, just as Abraham was commanded to leave his country, kindred, and father's house to receive his blessing.
• We must be intentional about creating environments that foster growth and breakthrough
• Trust is the foundation for changing environments—both in spiritual and professional contexts
• Broken trust skews perspectives and makes every interaction more difficult
• Setting up your day with prayer and intention creates a positive environmental shift
• Moving from an "advocate of one" to an "advocate for many" requires environmental changes
• Daily practices like cleaning your workspace and prioritizing tasks helps reframe thinking
• You can't achieve more while dragging what didn't work from previous seasons
• Your presence should change environments, not be changed by them
• God often requires us to leave some people, places or things behind for our next level
If this message blessed you, take a word of encouragement and share it with someone else today. Be the change in your environment and a positive influence in your community.

no-transcript. And what happened was last week. I missed you guys because I was taking my daughter. She was her and her school. They were going out of town and I had to dedicate that time to taking her someplace. And thank God they're back. They had an amazing time, but that's where I was last week. It's not funny, it's not even crazy. It is the way things are. But last week was supposed to kick off this month, where we're going to talk about being intentional, and last week was actually an exercise for me where I had to be intentional about spending the time with her and not rushing to come back here. It was the second time, y'all, that I took time off from a Thursday live in, I think, a couple of years, a few years, but I felt bad. I've missed y'all. So I'm so grateful that we're here again. It's Thursday.
Speaker 2:Come out of the wilderness prayer ministry. If you're on Facebook, please love, like and share the video. If on YouTube, do the same. If you're on LinkedIn, hello colleagues and friends. And if you're on a parade deck or listening to our broadcast in the audio platforms, how are you? So we're going to get started. This week. We're talking about changing our environment For the month of we're in April, talking about not just rest, but also a little bit of a shift, and I know that, like sometimes when I'm teaching, I will get people to come back and say you were speaking to me and if this word is meant to you, it will.
Speaker 2:Word is meant for you, it will find it. But I also have folks who get really in their feelings because they feel like I'm coming for them and I am not. I am just teaching as the Lord shows it, but if you're hearing it, he's giving you ears to hear what you need for that time. So, as we go further, lord, I just thank you for this platform. I thank you for every person under the sound of my voice, whether they're here on the live, whether they're catching the replay, and if there's a word that you have for them, oh, by all means, lord, I ask that you will illuminate it, bring it to their mind, show them then what's the next step, what you want them to do and give them the grace and the wisdom to follow through. Amen. Do and give them the grace and the wisdom to follow through Amen, because if he's sending a word for you, I don't want you to miss it. Okay, don't look at this, don't look at Shelly with the crazy hair. I want you to think about what God has, amen.
Speaker 2:So I'm just doing a really quick good morning in the chat. Good morning Dumb and Grab. Good morning Dr Tracy. Good morning to everybody else who's going to listen later in the day.
Speaker 2:So we're talking about changing your environment. So I'm going to pull up this scripture this is Genesis 12, verse one and then I'm going to try to tie it to some kind of real world things, cause you know, like I said, we're doing life together. Okay, I'm not just viewing scriptures where I'm sharing very vulnerable things that I'm going through and also, you know, hope. My hope is that it also encourages you regardless. So Genesis 12, verse one this is the ESV. I believe it's the ESV version. I also use Bible gateway. For those of y'all who are looking like where else you can source your scriptures from, you can get Bible gateway as an app on your phone or whatever.
Speaker 2:So Genesis 12, verse one I like this. It says now the Lord said to Abram go from your country and your kindred and your father's house. He had to. He had to leave a few things right to the land that I will show you go from your country. That's a location and your kindred. So think about you, know your, your, the people you're with your family, if you will, uh, your, your, uh, your company, the company you keep, and your father's house, where you actually reside right now, and it's saying to the land, to the land, so where God's sending you. And then the last part is that I will show you. So God has to show you where you're going. So, changing your environment. When we're talking about that right now, we're not just talking about spiritual. Today I'm going to talk a little bit about natural. Ok, exactly, tracy said.
Speaker 2:Dr Tracy said you had to leave everybody, you had to leave it all behind, and a lot of folks are afraid to do that because of the connections and maybe the relationships that you, that you might have. I personally, for my, my husband and I, we are, we move this home that we have the fifth house, that we bought fifth. We moved, I think, 12 times before we came to this house because of career moves mainly his right but we had to go through those seasons. It wasn't always easy, but we had to go through that season of going from where we were comfortable into where God showed us. He showed us that we were going to live a prosperous life, a life fulfilled, a life that you know that's blessed, so that we can bless our families and all the things. But we had to leave our comfort zone.
Speaker 2:If we just sat in the same state doing the same thing, no shade. Nobody Don't hear what I'm not saying. That's why I had to preface it with that. The same thing no shade. Nobody Don't hear what I'm not saying. That's why I had to preface it with that. If we didn't make that change and change our environment, the way that we think, then we wouldn't be where we are today. If you want you know how people are always I want to break generational curses, I want blessings, I want breakthrough. But that requires a level of change. You have to change the environment. You have to change the way you think.
Speaker 2:No-transcript saying those who are walking with his will, because there are some folks. It is what it is right. But it does require a level of trust. If you come to the Lord and you're like Lord, I want all that you have for me. I want you to bless me, blah, blah, blah. I'm going to walk with all the things. It does require us to trust God, and changing our environment for some of us means that we have to go from the mindset that we had before, where we didn't trust God, into a different environment where we do so again now. I'm not talking about physical now, I'm talking about spiritual mindset.
Speaker 2:So let me tie it back to something that's going on for me personally. I'm not saying anybody's names, don't try to come for me because you're not going to figure it out but I'm working on this situation right now and I'm in a situation where I'm really having a struggle, if you will, with trusting God in something with this person. I'm not saying man or woman, just focus on what I'm saying and it's really showing me that I have to trust God more than I trust this person. I have to trust God more than I trust this man or woman. And so in order for me to get to what the next level is for me, I have to trust God in this situation. If I don't trust God in this situation, then I'm not going to feel comfortable changing my environment. Okay, I'm not going to feel comfortable stepping into new because I don't trust God.
Speaker 2:All right, if I don't, then so this person, this, this, this person, she's running a pretty big project and Because the trust has been broken, because there's essentially two percent trust there, the mindset that you have and maybe this happens to you in business, y'all. So I'm calling out my business folks and folks working on projects all of us All right. Business folks and folks working on projects, all of us all right. If you don't have trust, then everything that that person does, that you're working with your colleague, your boss, your whoever, your volunteer partner, whatever right, everything that they do becomes skewed in your perspective. So a simple question is going to irritate you because it's like why are you asking me that? Or why is she asking that she's taking a different? Because you don't have any trust there, so you're not going to get to. For example, you're not going to, you're not going to. You might achieve your end goals, your outcomes, but it's going to be painful because the environment in your mind has not shifted. There's no trust, which is why trust in business is so important.
Speaker 2:It's very similar to trusting God when you're changing your environment. So if the Lord is saying you're asking him to bring you into a new season or a new role, or maybe you're praying for I want to be a mom, I want to have kids. Whatever it is that you're asking for, you have to have some level of trust in God, otherwise, everything that happens while you're on that journey it's going to, it's going to change your perspective. Why is it taking so long? Why, you know. Why do I have to go through IVF? Why do I have to, you know, do 300 resumes Like? Everything gets skewed and your perspective will be different because you don't have trust. So changing your environment does require some level of trust.
Speaker 2:In Genesis 12, 1, when the Lord is saying to Abraham, there had to be a level of him trusting God to believe really that, listen, god is saying that if I go from my country, if I'm leaving all these people, all these things, all the things that I'm comfortable with, the things that I know, the things in my wheelhouse that's a corporate term we used to use back in the 90s I just know the things in my wheelhouse, but I want promotion and he, laura's like okay, but you're going to have to leave those things, the things that you that you thought you knew. You have to change it so that you can go. Go into the land that I show. You can't take the old into the new is another, is another way to put it right. So put you in a position where you have to trust God about where you're going Change your environment. So I wanted to just share that with y'all, because it's very difficult Now.
Speaker 2:I could have come on and talk about I'm going to pull the comments down from my screen. I could have come on and talk to you about changing your environment, meaning we clean our homes because we do the turnover and all the things you spring clean. This is not that kind of conversation. We've done that right. You turn over the room, you turn over the bed. You change the environment in your home. I talked to you guys about bringing order into your home. That's so important. Order in the middle of chaos, like for me, might not be for you, but cleaning is my jam and I do that.
Speaker 2:But I do even simple things, like before I start work, my desk is clean. It helps me reframe my thoughts for the day. I, you know, pull out. I have like a little to do list. I have, you know, y'all have seen my. You know I use stationary. You know calendars. I get my, my things in order. I lay out my day, what are the things that I need to accomplish, like the top things?
Speaker 2:And then I take that y'all and then I go to the Lord and then I start saying you know, lord, I'm, I'm grateful that this day I'm going to receive your blessings and your grace in every meeting and every situation and I thank you that, no matter what email comes, that you're going to give me the wisdom and show me how to respond or not to respond. What am I doing? I'm changing the environment so that whatever comes during the day is not going to knock me over. I'm not surprised. God has already gone ahead of me and I've already declared a victory for that day. When I'm done, I'm even asking the Lord like please, lord, don't let me be exhausted. Renew my strength, renew my mind. I do all those things, y'all, and that's how I set up my work environment.
Speaker 2:Before I come on a teaching, obviously, you know I'm praying Lord here's, you know, here's this live and Lord, I'm looking for you to teach us and show us and reveal to us and all the things right. I have shifted the environment that I'm in. So then, now, what that does is I'm more focused on, I'm expectant of the victory that God has for me in the day, not so much about people, because I'm trusting God to yield the blessings for me of the day. I'm not focused on what so-and-so is going to do or say in a meeting. What also happens is the more that I trust him that all things are working together for my good, no matter who or what comes. Then I have shifted and changed the environment that I'm in and so when you come to meet me, when you work with me, that you're tapping into that grace and that joy that I have is because I am fully my environment shifted, because I'm trusting God.
Speaker 2:Does that help? And if you think about it, on on how you do it, on your job, if you're working with a colleague, a coworker, a peer, whatever, whoever right, if you, or maybe in business, if you're working with your business partner, on somebody, you have to change the environment, the way that you show up and how you provide, how do you present yourself, even for that day and the meetings and all the things. There has to be a base level of trust so that you guys know okay, we are focusing on the. I have a leader that I work with. She says this all the time.
Speaker 2:Focus on the outcome and not the task. Right, focus on the outcome, but what does that look like? Right? So you turn over, lord. Here's the outcome that I'm praying for, lord. We want victory in this deal, lord. We want to be blessed. Blah, blah, blah. All the things right. You turn over those things, lord, even the meetings with your business partners and the projects that you're on. Maybe you're traveling, lord. I pray for safe travels. You turn over all those things to the Lord and then you go forward and do. What happens is then you've changed and shifted your environment. You're trusting God to deliver you whatever it is that you're asking for, and all these things are working together for your good. It changes you. It changes you and the way that you show up in your own environment, and then everything else around you starts to shift. You can't come to me with anything crazy, because you'll get swapped up into this environment. You either get repelled or you stay Okay. So changing our environment does require a level of trust.
Speaker 2:So I'm praying, so I'm going to pull up this scripture one more time, because again I want it to just sink in for all of us. It says now the Lord said to Abraham go from your country, so go for it. The Lord is showing that you've got to ship your location or the people you're with, your home or your mindset y'all to the land that he will show you. If he's showing you that you have to make a move and nine times out of 10, we do you can't achieve more and drag a carcass from you know, from the month before when we start a new month, I always tell people you've got to let go Whatever didn't work in the month before you got, to leave it there and start anew, all right. So changing our environment spiritually and sometimes physically, if the Lord blesses you that way, and I pray this helped you y'all.
Speaker 2:Like I said, I'm trying to be more vulnerable and share what's going on in my day-to-day life, because a lot of times people see the end result but they don't understand the journey. When I used to interview business owners, that's the one point that I always shared is listen. People see the end result, they see the glitz, the glamor, they see you on social media, they see the pictures, they see those things, they see the accolades, they see the wins, but they don't understand the journey and how complicated, challenging and also amazing this really is. So I want to show you the other side, that this is, yeah, this is complicated amazing, but we're doing this life journey together, so y'all, we can all win. More than anything, I want you to come to know the Jesus that I serve. I want you to find peace and joy in your life. I want you to, you know, be encouraged to go back and read the Bible If you haven't maybe you haven't done that in a long time. I want you to change your mindset. I want you to change the environment. I want you to be people that make incredible impact in your communities. I want you to have influence that changes things, not just for you for the better. There are some of us that, again, this shifted for me. We're in April. This shifted for me a couple months ago. This desire that I have now has changed.
Speaker 2:Where I used to advocate in a part of I keep saying this y'all Cause I think and I know that, um, there are other people that this is happening to you, and if this is happening to you I'm just saying this so you don't feel crazy but I used to be an advocate of one meaning I advocated. I was an advocate for myself, my household. You know the things that were the relationships that were closest to me, right, I was an advocate of one for many, many years, right. Family like advocate of one, don't many years right, family like advocate of one. Don't worry about the. I don't think about the numbers, just think about the symbolism. Then I became an advocate for two. An advocate for two that I started to not just be an advocate like what's the best thing for my household, but I started to think about being more of an advocate for the people that I work with my community, right, my prayer community right Us, right. So I moved to being an advocate for two.
Speaker 2:And then it shifted for me where now I have this strong desire to be an advocate for many, many means, thousands, right. So I know that that requires a change in my environment, a change in where I think I have to trust God when he's showing me that, in order for him to use me as an advocate for many, that there are some things that I have to do. I have to change my mindset. I have to change my circle, ok. I have to change the way I pray, the way I show up. I have to change my thoughts. You know all these things.
Speaker 2:So why I'm sharing this with you is because some of you all are asking God for a change. You're asking, you want more, you want to do more, but that level of change requires something that we have to do, and the first thing that we've got to do, and the most important thing we have to do, is to trust God. It's going to look like a hot mess before you get to where you're going, because right now, literally I'm telling you. I feel like what in the world is happening, like I thought you were blessing me. You know when is this coming from? Right, so you're going to go through this. So I hope that, as we're praying together, learning together, as I'm teaching you and sharing my worship, that's what we are You're in my worship, that we're growing together, and if you're picking up seeds here, that you're planting good seeds in good ground, right, and then from here y'all you go and bless somebody else.
Speaker 2:If this is blessing you, if you've got a word of encouragement this is a month that we're praying hope and encouragement over everybody on our Thursday phone line then please don't just take the word in for yourself. If you're an advocate for one, meaning your household, then even so, you take it back into your household and bless and encourage your household. If you're an advocate for two meaning you have a team or colleagues then you take the word and you go out and bless and you advocate. It means that you actually shift your position. You advocate more for them than you do for yourself. That's what it means, okay, that's why everybody is doing it.
Speaker 2:If you're an advocate for many, where the Lord is pushing you out to speak to more people to get his word out, it's not going out and seeing how much scripture you know. It's not about a title, whether you're evangelist. I'm not an evangelist. I'm literally that person where, most times, I am, by myself, not an evangelist, okay. But it doesn't mean that you can't advocate for many.
Speaker 2:And so, as God is showing you where he wants you to go right, you're going to have to leave some things, some people, some places and some things behind so you can shift into this next amazing season. You will be blessed, y'all right, all right. So, lord, we just thank you again for today, for reinforcing hope, for reinforcing encouragement for those who are looking for a new season, for renewal, for change. Well, we know that we can't stand still in the same place and expect change to happen. But I thank you also that, even as we are changing our environment, that you're going to give us the wisdom so that we can transition into the next. What is the thing that you want us to do?
Speaker 2:And as you're opening doors for everyone under the sound of my voice, as you're giving them wisdom and clarity, lord God, as you're showing up in confirmation, lord God, maybe those who have been stuck are now unstuck that you will give them the courage like that. You know that. Help us to trust you, god, so that we can make that next step. It might be difficult, but give us you know, give us your grace so that we can even make that call. And, lord, I know that we will land in a place that's soft, because you won't let us be put to shame in any way. So I thank you for all of the amazing blessings for those who are making transitions in the way that they think, in the way they spend their money, the way they spend their time, their talent, their treasure, in the way that they advocate for themselves and others, whether they're advocating for their families or their colleagues, or for thousands or millions.
Speaker 2:Lord God that this today, lord God, that you will speak to their hearts and let them be the change in their environment, anywhere they go. Let them be the change, lord God. Let them be the people that have impact, real impact on our communities, positive impact on our communities. Let them be the folks who influence others for the good, to remind us, lord God, that we're meant to take care of the sick, the needy, the poor, those who are standing in need of and, in this season where there's so many people who have broken hearts and so many folks that are just leading by fear or by doubt or just creating storms of chaos, that we will be the peace in this season, lord God, that we are the peacemakers. And when we show up, lord God, we change the environment.
Speaker 2:Lord God, because of what you are doing through us and all of these things, we ask through Jesus's name Amen. I pray, lord, that this is going to bless you. Like I said, if this blessed you, please take a word and give a word of encouragement to somebody else today. Bless you, please take a word and give a word of encouragement to somebody else today. You know, I, I, I just I want the best for all of us. I want all of us to get everything that we're we're praying for. I'm praying that this day is going to yield up all the blessings and everything that you're asking for. So that's what it is for today. Y'all have an amazing Thursday. Don't forget the prayer line, and I will. I'll be back next week, y'all, take care.
