Imagine moving through life's challenges with a sense of peace and positivity, even when the world feels overwhelming. In our latest episode, we're sharing heartfelt insights and personal strategies for navigating the emotional waves that often follow election seasons, especially for women seeking a moment to regroup. Drawing inspiration from Psalm 37, we explore the power of focusing on gratitude instead of fretting over things beyond our control. By indulging in hobbies, cherishing family moments, and participating in community service, you'll find yourself embracing your blessings and discovering a profound sense of joy.
Our morning prayer segment offers a spiritual uplift, focusing on gratitude for each new day and emphasizing the Christian value of self-control. Rather than giving into judgment or negativity, responding with love can transform our interactions and remind us of the divine control guiding our lives. With expressions of love and encouragement, we remind listeners of the unwavering love Jesus has for each of us, setting the tone for a peaceful and fulfilling journey. Happy Saturday, y'all All right. So it's been one of those weeks, right. We've all gone through some things. We've had a wave of emotions coming out of the election and I'm not here to talk about the election. I have my own thoughts, feelings, and I'm going to keep that between me and Jesus at this point. But what I wanted to do, as we are in the month of November and our theme for this month, our teaching series for this month, is run I want to share a couple of verses with you Bible scriptures and then some of the things that maybe four things that I'm going to do to kind of I'm going to call it develop a healthy distraction for really for the rest of the year. And so I do want to just pause and say I know that there are a lot of women, especially that I know, that are kind of trying to take an emotional self-care pause right now and just trying to regroup, if you will, emotionally, spiritually, mentally, and that's all right. Take the you need, take the pause you need. We're going to be here.
Speaker 1:A quick welcome to those of you who are new to come out of the wilderness prayer ministry. This is a saturday teaching and I come on every saturday. For those of y'all who are watching on tiktok or youtube or wherever else you're getting this video, maybe linkedin, you're welcome to watch our replays on mrs pieai YouTube. We also have live prayers Mondays and Tuesdays Monday mornings at 6 30, tuesday night at 8 30 pm Eastern Standard, and we also host events pretty much every month and they're free. So you know all those are out there. If you're interested, this month in November we're focusing our phone prayer line called Three Prayer Sisters. This month of November we're focusing our phone prayer line called Three Prayer Sisters. We're focusing those prayers on people who are dealing with substance abuse or caretakers of folks who are dealing with substance abuse. So all of these resources are here. I'm here, y'all. I can always drop in the comments if you have a prayer request or just let me know how you're doing. And if you're doing okay, just say I'm good. If you're not doing okay and you want us to pray alongside and come alongside you, let us know and we will be more than honored to pray with you, right?
Speaker 1:So Psalm 37, and I'm going into verse one and then verse eight. This is the ESV version. Psalm 37, verse one says fret not yourself because of evildoers. Be not envious of wrongdoers, and verse 2 says for they will soon fade like the grass and wither like the green herb. And then we come to verse 8. It says refrain from anger and forsake wrath. Fret not yourself. It tends only to evil. So I want to encourage you, those of you who even listen, even those of you who felt like you got what you wanted and you're really excited about that. Okay, all right, but I'm going to give you some tips on some healthy distractions and I'm going to put them into play.
Speaker 1:Personally, I'm trying to and I don't know if maybe you're going through this as well but I'm just trying to reground myself a little bit. I talked about this on Thursday in the teaching, about just being grateful for who I have in my life, what I have in my life right now. I'm trying to just step back a little bit and look at all the amazing things that God is doing for me. I think I don't know if this happens to you, but sometimes you go through a season and you're so wrapped up in all the things that you're praying for that you miss what he's already answered. So I'm taking a pause to do that. I'm taking a pause to find little bits of joy and happiness in some of the things that I enjoy doing, like I like to read, I like to watch Midsummer Murders and Murder she Wrote and Hercule Poirot, and Cleaning Vlogs on the YouTube street. So I'm trying to find a spending time with my family. I'm trying to find different distractions now and reconnecting that way. Obviously, I love Bible study and I love preaching and teaching. So as much as that opportunity comes up, you know I'm going to keep doing that.
Speaker 1:So fret not my, fret not yourself because of of not, and again, not when we talk about fretting. When I'm talking about, fret not yourself because of evildoers, I'm not just talking about anything political. I'm talking about evildoers. On your job, y'all people are peopling, or in your community, in your family, right, anything like that in business. So not worrying or consuming ourself of what we consider something that's coming against us, someone's coming against us, and the reason is, the more you focus on the evildoers or what people are doing that's wrong, you get consumed by it and you miss out on allildoers. Or what people are doing that's wrong, you get consumed by it and you miss out on all the good things. So here are my four distractions that I'm going to do. Maybe this will help you.
Speaker 1:And the first one is service, so serving others, so finding different ways to serve others. Now I mentioned some of the things that we do as a prayer ministry to serve others. We actually are so proud that this year we sponsored a school here in Georgia, where I am, and so we're able to get kindergartners ready for school this year, and then we're also able to close out the year helping fifth graders provide hygiene supplies and things like that. But just today is a Saturday and I'm going to go and just volunteer my time for a couple hours, so I'm just looking for different ways to serve. So maybe that's something that you would consider doing.
Speaker 1:If you have a neighbor you haven't checked on in a while, maybe a new family that came into your neighborhood, don't worry about if they have the Harris sign or the MAGA sign in their lawn, all right, we're not going to operate in fear for those of us who are walking like Christ. Be like Christ, be like him. We have, no, we don't have to fear nothing. The hand of evil ain't got nothing on us, all right. So don't let that be an excuse for you not to be kind to your neighbor. Please don't do that. Please don't go the opposite way, y'all. Please, I'm begging you. So, looking for different ways to serve the holidays are coming, so maybe serving your family in a different way. I was going to say something shady. I'm not going to say it. I was going to say it. I was going to say if you're the family member who you know, you can't cook that thing and you keep bringing it, maybe your services don't do it. I'm sorry, y'all, I'm sorry, all right, I jest so, but but again, just looking for service, you know way to serve other people. All right, that's service.
Speaker 1:The second thing is organizing and goal setting. So again, we're in November. If you go back on our YouTube channel, you see an event we closed out called declutter, and this is a good time to you know, organize and or reorganize. So you know, maybe you start with a closet or a kitchen or whatever it is, but you know, again, these are healthy distractions, things that you know, things that when you do it actually is in the plus column in your life. It's not a waste of your time. So, organizing, or maybe start goal setting. What are some of the things you want to think about accomplishing next year and you start to look at what you've accomplished this year and start to think about what you want to do. You know, maybe the first three months of next year. So that's the second thing.
Speaker 1:The third thing is important it's self-care. And, um, I am one of those girlies I love all the beauty supplies, I love all the hygiene supplies, I love all the things. And self-care could be something like you know, you know, picking up the love of reading again and finding quiet time for yourself. Self-care could be, you know all the things. Maybe you're a spa person or go get a massage or go take a walk, but do something for yourself, and I mean do something like alone for yourself. So, just, you know, find some way to take care of yourself.
Speaker 1:And then the last thing is I mentioned it when I started out is just pause and being grateful, and and it's okay, I think this is a season again, you know, for some of us we're grateful, but you need to tell the people who've been kind to you. It's okay to say thank you to somebody, so thank the people who've been a blessing in your life. Y'all. Don't hog that. That's a part of the testimony. I keep saying two things. I've been saying these two things for a couple years now. The first one is don't swallow your testimony. God has been good to you, so that's even a part of gratitude. Just showing your gratitude back to him, being grateful, thanking him. But thank the people around you, people he's placed in your life, but just again, showing gratitude. So maybe you have a gratitude journal. That's something you can do. You can, you know, write it down every day at the end of the day and, you know, take a moment, you write down what you're grateful for, you. Thank God for it. But these are just again, healthy distractions.
Speaker 1:As I said, I was in Psalm 3710 and I talked about you know, you know, don't fret not yourself, fret not yourself. Verse two. I'm going to just throw this out of there one more time. It says for they will soon fade like grass and wither like the green herb. I'm going to tell you something real, real quick. The people asked for a king, like like the king the children of Israel did. They asked for a king and they got Saul. So everything plays itself out. God is still in control. We are a part of a larger story, and so stop being surprised. Just remember that the people that follow Jesus like really, for real, like follow Jesus. It's a minority group, it wasn't a majority. So don't freak out because you see pastors that you know prophets, that you know Christians, that you know prophets, that you know Christians that you know going one way or whatever. All right. So that's the one thing.
Speaker 1:The other thing is, for me, something else that I'm really leaning into is I have been teaching this for weeks now. Thank you Lord, he's been laying this down for weeks is that we need to be approachable Christians so that it doesn't matter who we're dealing with. We still have to be approachable Christians so that it doesn't matter who we're dealing with, we still have to be approachable Christians. We're still witnesses. So I want to be a place and I'm just going to say this and I'm just going to say this I want to be the place, a safe place for anybody who is really struggling and who needs some encouragement.
Speaker 1:Maybe you watch my videos and get some inspiration. Know and be reminded that God is love and God loves you, and know that, no matter what is happening around you, that he's never left you, he's not forsaken you, and I really believe that at the bottom of my heart that I want to be more like Jesus. I want to be less like the world and even those that call themselves Christians, and I want to be more like Jesus. I want to be less like the world and even those that call themselves Christians, and I want to be more like Jesus, to have the love that he had to take care of the needy, the poor, the sick, to have a heart posture that truly cares about the people around me and do something. Y'all do something, not the person to curse your sin and bring up your sin in front of your face. That's not my job, that's not me. So I just want to take a moment to just encourage you.
Speaker 1:Wherever you are, whatever season, there are also a lot of people who are losing jobs this season. So, again, it's much bigger than US politics or anything like that. There are people who are losing jobs, people in health issues, y'all for real health scares. So I'm talking to y'all too. If you're going through the season, I pray that, uh, that that you're encouraged, that you will even consider some of these healthy distractions and maybe you can join together in prayer. So, again, the distractions I gave you service, uh one. The second one is organizing and goal setting, preparing, maybe prepare for next year, organize, get your house in order. Number three is self-care. Number four is just taking a pause and just having gratefulness, gratitude, have a gratitude journal, you know, and just kind of just take a moment to pause and thank God.
Speaker 1:So, lord, we thank you for this morning. I thank you for your words. I pray that anyone on the sound of my voice who needed to be encouraged this morning that this lifts them just a little bit and that they know that there is someone on the other side here, on the other side of this camera, who truly is praying for all of our lives, our peace and love and joy. Father, I thank you that you will even give us self-control. Those of us who profess to be Christians will have self-control and will respond in love and not hate or judgment. Lord, everything is under your control. So we thank you. We thank you for this day, thank you for your favor for everyone under the sound of my voice and your blessings. Amen. All right, y'all have a great Saturday. I love y'all, but Jesus loves you more. Take care Bye.
