Embracing Inner Peace: Transformative Relationships Through Faith and Self-Reflection

Shelley Jeffcoat Season 3 Episode 76

In this short episode, I reflect on Romans 14:19 and 22, where we’re encouraged to pursue peace and uplift one another. It’s a reminder that we all have unique faith journeys, and God calls us to focus on what unites us rather than what divides us.

Let’s be intentional about choosing actions and words that bring harmony and encouragement into our relationships. Join me in this reflection on what it means to live as peacemakers.

Speaker 1:

Good morning, happy Saturday, y'all. So I'm actually getting ready to go a little bit later this morning to the women's ministry event at Eastgate Church. But before I do that, by the way it's, let's see, it is November 2nd, in case you're watching this and you would have missed this. But before I do that, I wanted to share just a couple of scriptures out of Romans that have just been on my heart. It's been a long night out I'm not sure if I got much sleep last night but either way, I wanted to share these two scriptures with you because I think it's going to help you and it's really, I think, especially for those of us who are trying to encourage people around us. You know, maybe the word of encouragement you hear today is to just hold on and hang in there. But for some of y'all, this is going to be a little bit of a correction as well, right, because we all want to level up and we all want to do the things, but there's a specific role that we all play. So here we go, romans 14, esv version, and it's his verse 19. And it says so. Then let us pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding. Let us pursue what makes for peace and mutual upbuilding. So I want us to think about that today. You know the things that we do, anything that we pursue or chase Listen, we're really big on chasing the bag and the opportunities and all the things, chasing the money and all the things right. But for us, I want us to just think about pursuing peace and mutual upbuilding. And so you think about how this works in your household. You know even the way that we respond to our kids and our spouses. Y'all are so harsh when it comes to people in your own home, but we want to pursue peace and mutual upbuilding. You know, helping each other, encouraging each other. And then there's another verse that says in verse 22, romans 14, it says the faith you have, keep between you and yourself and God. Everything isn't meant for the streets, everything isn't meant for the streets, everything isn't meant for this race. The faith you have, the belief you have, there's some things that you're going to need to keep for yourself when he starts to reveal some things to you. So I'm going to show you how this ties back from verse 22 to verse 19.

Speaker 1:

When you start asking the Holy Spirit, you know to. You know I want to pursue peace. You know, help me to pursue peace in all the situations. You know, give me the strength, lord, to have to build up the people around me. Well, he's going to start showing you things in your heart that you need to change or purify your mindset, the way you see things.

Speaker 1:

What's stopping you from being that person who pursues peace? What's stopping you from doing that? You know the folks that say you know, I just fall back to my old self. As soon as something happens, as soon as there's a conflict, you find yourself running back to the response that you used to have, cussing people out. What is causing you to do that? So I want you to ask the Holy Spirit to show you what you know you need to work on for real y'all, so that we can pursue peace and build up each other. And when he shows you those things, I want you to work on it with the Holy Spirit.

Speaker 1:

Go back to God. Everything isn't meant for the streets. Some things that he shows you about yourself we're all work in progress. Let him work that thing out with you and the people around you will see the fruit. The fruit, that fruit will be spirit. So I thank you, lord.

Speaker 1:

I hope this helps somebody today, and I pray that you'll, that they'll be encouraged and that will they will seek peace in every area of their life, that they'll be inspired to encourage and build up the people around them and, as you start to reveal things in their lives or God, and things that we need to change, the things that's on our heart, I pray to Lord God that some of that stuff we need to change, the things that's on our heart. I pray, lord God, that some of that stuff we learn to keep it to ourselves. Everything isn't for Facebook and social media. So, as you're working through things with us, through us, for us, by us, amen, lord, I just ask that you'll even give us discretion to know when we need to hold back. We don't have to blast everything out on the streets. But the one thing I know, lord God, is, as you are, the king of peace, that's what we want. We want peace in our lives, peace in our mindset, peace in our homes.

Speaker 1:

Lord God, there's so much turmoil happening right now and I just ask that you'll just give us peace today and that we will, in turn, help to build somebody else up on this beautiful Saturday, november 2nd. Amen, y'all. Quick, quick, quick message, but I hope that that blesses you as it blessed me. Y'all have a wonderful Saturday. Be kind to yourself. Be kind to other people. You can find us on the Come Out of the Wilderness Facebook prayer group If you're looking to join a community of folks.
