Anchored in Faith: Embracing Psalm 27 for Strength and Salvation

Shelley Jeffcoat Season 3 Episode 61

How often do we seek solace in our faith only when life gets tough? Today, I'm inviting you to think beyond immediate needs and explore the deeper relationship with God that sustains us through every season. As we welcome September, let's reflect on Psalm 27 together—a powerful scripture that reminds us of the Lord's unwavering presence as our light, salvation, and strength. This episode is not just about reading the scripture but about embedding its essence into our hearts, encouraging us to maintain a relationship with God that transcends our prayers for help.

We'll explore the significance of trusting God to fight our battles and waiting on Him with courage and patience. Leaning into Psalm 27:14, we find encouragement to stand firm in faith, knowing that God will strengthen us. I share a heartfelt prayer for everyone listening, asking for God's blessings and protection in this new month. Let's start September with a strong declaration of faith and gratitude, remembering that God's love and word guide us each day. Happy Sunday, and may you have a joyful and blessed September!

Speaker 1:

Happy Sunday y'all. So I am actually getting ready for church and I wanted to just share this scripture that I think I'm going to lean into this one for the next few days. It is September. God is so good that we get to see a new month. I'm in Psalm 27. Most of you probably know this already, but it is such a powerful one. But it starts off with Psalm 27.

Speaker 1:

I'm in the New King James Version. The Lord is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life. Of whom shall I be afraid? And is is actually emphasized, it's italicized, so you don't have to guess whether the Lord is your light. You don't have to guess whether the Lord is your strength. He really is.

Speaker 1:

I want to encourage you all to come in here. It talks about when the wicked came against me to eat up my flesh and my enemies and foes. They stumbled and fell, and though an army should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear. The war shall rise against me. In this I will be confident.

Speaker 1:

One thing I desire of the Lord. I'm going to contextualize that I will seek, I will dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life. So even as you're praying, you know a lot of us tend to just go to God. You know, and we're just asking for her, our wants and needs, but go to God and ask him. What I most desire is just a relationship with God, is to know him, is to truly have a relationship with God, not to just go to him. You know how your kids just come to you when they want something. I want to go to my father in heaven just because I want a relationship with him. I want to hear from him, I want to get his insights and his guidance. I don't want to just show up when I need something right, because then, when you don't get your prayers answered, we get frustrated, we get disappointed and we break the relationship.

Speaker 1:

Psalm 27, verse 6,. It says and now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me. I mean again another powerful thing to remind you these are the things that God does for us. There are battles that he's going to fight for us this month of September that we need to let God fight for us. We take our troubles to the Lord, but sometimes you got to stand back and let God be God. I said in this wait on the Lord, be of good courage. This is verse 14, and he shall strengthen your heart. Wait, I say, on the Lord, that's how it ends up. That's how it ends. So I encourage you.

Speaker 1:

Psalm 27, if you're looking for a scripture or a word or some verses that will help you. This is how I'm starting off my day and I encourage y'all to go into this. It is the caption of the Bible says an exuberant declaration of faith. Thank you, lord, that you love us so much that you give us your word. I thank you for encouraging us this Sunday morning and, as we have entered a new month, I pray for everyone under the sound of my voice, that anything they stand in need of Lord, god that you will deliver, but most of all, I ask that the hunger that we have for getting to know you and learning more about you and having a relationship with you, that that trumps everything that we do. So I thank you for your word, I thank you for your verses and I thank you for protecting us from everything. We love you, lord. God bless y'all. Have a great, great Sunday and happy September. Bye y'all.
